Shufford Wells

Canton - Shufford Garland Wells, age 84, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at his residence.

A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Garland and Geneva Mease Wells. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Marshall Kimsey Wells and a sister, Clara Wilson. Shufford was a U.S. Army veteran and served proudly in the Korean War. He was employed by Champion International for 32 years and enjoyed being outdoors. During his spare time, Shufford would hunt, fish, and work in his garden.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, JoAnn Neal Wells; two sons, Neal Wells and his wife, Diane, of Canton and Mease and Anita Wells of Canton; one daughter, Rhonda McClure of Canton; one sister, Maude Pace of Canton; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 1, 2017 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral with Reverend Matt Rhea officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:45 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
