Stanley T. Hill
Waynesville, Stanley Thomas Hill, age 69, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his family.
A native of Clark County, Washington and he was a son of the late Noel Hill. Stanley’s life was defined by his service in the Navy. He proudly served two tours in Vietnam receiving three Bronze Stars, National Service Defense Medal and the Combat Action Ribbon. Stanley was a collector of firearms and an avid fisherman. He cherished his solitude but could occasionally join in with his family cheering for his beloved Redskins. Stanley was a sailor, a protector of our land and a servant who answered the call when his country took a stand.
In addition to his mother, Louise Smathers Hill, he is survived by his wife of 28 years, Elizabeth "Libby" Hill; daughter, Penny Lane Hill Taylor, and her husband, Zachary, of Sylva; sister, Shirley Finney, and her husband, J.W., of Waynesville; two brothers, David Hill, and his wife, Gail, of Patterson, North Carolina and Ronnie Hill, and his wife, Vivian, of Waynesville; two grandchildren, Mason Wyatt Osborn and DaKoda James Taylor; best friend, Pastor David Burch; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2019 in the Waynesville chapel with Reverend David Burch and Reverend Brad Joyner officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
