"Beloved"

Waynesville, Stephen Ballard Scarborough, Jr., age 70, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at his residence.

A native of Haywood County he was the son of the late Stephen Ballard and Mary Atkinson Scarborough. Steve could be described in two words, kind and gentle. He was an avid surf fisherman, collector of selected antique fishing tackle as well he loved the water and his second home on the coast of South Carolina. Steve was beloved but never forgotten.

Steve is survived by his wife of 37 years, Florence League Scarborough; daughter, Kimberly Dawn Taylor, and her husband, Charles, of Candler; aunt, Jan Scarborough, of Hickory; two grandchildren, Brittney Diane Daye and Elizabeth Ann Henry; many cousins; and his beloved cat, Coco Bear.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2017 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Chaplain Michael Revord officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford-Ray Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
