Stephen Surrett

"1966 – 2016" Waynesville – Stephen "Stevie" Edward Surrett, 50, passed away Friday, January 29, 2016 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Haywood County, he was a son of James Surrett and Kay Reese. Stevie loved to deer hunt and his 1972 Chevrolet truck. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and loved making walking sticks. Stevie was an avid arrowhead hunter and was a foreman for Davie Tree Service. He is survived by his wife of four years, Dora Pritchard Surrett; parents, James and Thelma Surrett; parent, Kay Reese; three daughters, Brooke Martinez and Kersten Surrett of Bethel and Faith Surrett of Sylva; three sons, Colten Allison of Virginia, Jesse and Nathan Martinez of Bethel; one sister, Davene Surrett of Bethel; five grandchildren, Alayna, and Rayen Martinez, Canaan Owen, Tyler and Harley Allison. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 1, 2016 at Riverside Baptist Church with the Reverend Kenny Banks and Reverend Jason Queen officiating. Burial will follow at Sunburst Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior at the church. Pallbearers will be Dusty Jones, Tootie Best, Jeremy and Jeff Inman, Cody Owen, and Bobbie Parker. Honorary pallbearers will be Nathan and Jessie Martinez.
