Steven Burns

September 18, 1930 — July 14, 2011

Hot Springs, Steven Edward "Ed" Burns, age 80, passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of Madison County, he was the son of the late Samuel and Amanda Allison Burns. He was a US Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict and retired from the US Forest Service. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joyce Burns; two sons, Steve Burns and his wife, SueAnn, of Bostic and George Burns and his wife, Nancy, of Hot Springs; one daughter, Maxine Ward and her husband, Ricky, of Horse Shoe; two sisters, Ruth Lowe of Etowah and Gladys Haggins of Hot Springs; two brothers, Bill Burns of Hot Springs and Curtis Burns of Arcadia, Florida; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 17, 2011 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Four Seasons Hospice, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
