Steven Lavender

April 30, 1951 — November 22, 2003

Waynesville-Steven Michael Lavender, age 52, of 116 Nora Harrell Drive, died Saturday, November 22, 2003 at his residence.

A native of Amityville, NY, he had resided part time in Haywood County since 1998, and he and his wife had resided here permanently since August of this year. He was the son of the late Bernard Lavender and Barbara Ann Brett. He attended Goddard College in Vermont and had a deep love of cooking and culinary arts, having been employed by Anthony Athenas at Pier 4, and the Ritz Carlton of Boston. He also managed several restaurants in New Hampshire and Boston. He then entered the management recruitment field working for Management Recruiters of Boston. He later formed his own company, Morgan-Webber, Inc. of Boston. He was an avid fisherman, gardener, and audiophile.

He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Patricia Powers Lavender; a stepmother, Marcella Lavender of Massapequa, NY; a stepsister, Suzanne Lavender Silverstein, of Massapequa, NY; three stepbrothers, David Lavender of Pennsylvania, Philip Lavender of Massapequa, NY, and Daniel Lavender of Tampa, Florida; and several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and beloved godsons.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2003 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Father Frank Doyle officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
