Steven Ledford

Canton – Steven Daniel “Steve” Ledford, 50, passed away on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Mission Memorial Campus.

Steve was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and a son of James and Brenda Blankenship Ledford.  He was a teacher, coach, and athletic director at Reynolds Middle School for 11 years and at Canton Middle School for 18 years.  Steve was a member of High Street Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for 3 decades.  He was a 1988 graduate of Pisgah High School and a graduate of both Montreat College and Mars Hill College.  Steve was also the founder and CEO of Mountain Sports Baseball for 15 years.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 28 years, Leisa Willett Ledford; three sons, Josiah Ledford (Emily) of Canton, Micah Ledford (Kaelin) of Atlanta, Georgia, and Bryce Ledford of Cleveland, Georgia; and one brother, Michael Ledford (Andrea) and their children, Alex and Megan of Cincinnati, Ohio.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 6, 2021 at Canton Middle School Auditorium with the Reverend Micah Ledford and Reverend Christopher Willett officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service in the old gym of Canton Middle.
