Steven Mitchiner

Steven C. "Stevie" Mitchiner, age 47, died on Monday, May 2, 2011, at Wake Medical Center. A native of Manhattan, New York, he was the son of Reverend Joe and Carolyn Chandler of Asheville and Albert Mitchiner of Bronx, NY. He attended the Church of God of Prophecy as a child. Stevie graduated from Pisgah High School in 1982 and attended Western Carolina University where he was a member of Kappa Alpha PSI. He was currently an employee of the State of North Carolina and was an avid Tar Heel fan. Stevie loved his family, most especially organizing the family reunions. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Darlene Mitchiner; a son, Terrence Mitchiner of Raleigh, four brothers, Allen Mitchiner (Juanita) of Asheville, Michael, Terrell, and Darrell Mitchiner of Manhattan, NY; a step-brother, Mark Chandler of Asheville; a sister, Dawn Mitchiner; five step-sisters, Lori, Adrina, Stephanie, Doreece and Doreen; special niece and nephew, Lauren Mitchiner and A. J. Mitchiner, Jr.; special friend, Robin Rankin; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2011, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend David Roberts officiating and Reverend James Johnson presiding. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11:30 until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Carolyn Chandler, 23 Max Street, Asheville.
