Sue Bridgman

Waynesville, Sue Ann Bridgman, age 82, of 791 Qualla Road, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2013 at her residence. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Robert E. and Eula Worley Owen and was also preceded in death by her brothers, James Worley and Robert Lee Owen, one sister, Dorothy Bess Stowe, and a son, Matthew Grant Bridgman. Sue was a graduate of Mars Hill College and attended Western Carolina Teacher's College. She was employed as a bookkeeper in Canton for Haywood Distributors and also was a substitute teacher for Canton and Asheville High Schools. Sue was a very talented organist and played the organ for Shady Grove and Dellwood Methodist churches. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, and tatting creating all her children's clothing as well as many quilts and afghans. She was a member of Maggie United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Robert G. Bridgman; a daughter, Christa Bridgman, of Swannanoa; two sons, Gary Bridgman of Sturbridge, Massachusetts and Terry Bridgman of Denver, Colorado; a grandson, Christopher Bridgman of Greensboro; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Richard Buff officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park.
