Sue Thompson

, N.C ., Sue Lokey Thompson, age 89, passed away in peace after a brief illness, on Thursday, December 8, 2011 at MedWest Haywood. A longtime resident of Montgomery, Alabama and recently of Canton, N.C., she was the daughter of the late William and Bonnie Hatley Lokey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Daniel Payne Thompson, Sr. Affectionately called "SuSu", she was also called by many, "the nicest person I have ever known." We will miss her sweet smile and ready laughter. She is survived by two sons, Daniel Payne Thompson, Jr. and his wife, Marcella, and Richard Payne Thompson and his wife, Dianne Brown, all of Clyde, N.C.; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and numerous friends. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 19, 2011 at Equality Methodist Church in Equality, Alabama. Reverend Mike Chitwood will officiate. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made to Cloverdale Baptist Church, 608 East Fairview Avenue, Montgomery, Alabama 36106.
