Susan Mcbennett

July 16, 1969 — August 31, 2005

Maggie Valley-Susan Brannon McBennett, age 36, died on Wednesday, August 31, 2005. She was a native of Haywood County and a 1987 graduate of Tuscola High School where she was active in choral, the theater department, and served on the annual staff. She later attended Western Carolina University where she was an active member of Phi-MU and was also very active in the fund raising of the alumni. She was also an active fund raiser for the Salvation Army and Women Helping Others Group, and several outreach programs. The was a business person and homemaker and always put other people first and those in need. She was loved by all who who knew her. Preceded in death by her grandparents Lindsey and Alma Swindell, M.O. and Susan Ola Brannon her namesake. She is survived by her husband, Charlie J. McBennett Jr., her parents, Robert O. "Bob" and Elizabeth Swindell Brannon of Waynesville; two sisters, Leigh Brannon of Nashville TN, Lynn Brannon Lasley and her husband, Tom, of Asheville: father-in law, Charles McBennett Sr., and Cathy Stough of Waynesville; a sister-in--law, Alison Lucas, and her husband, William, of Mars Hill; and two nieces, Roselyn Brannon Lasley, Jordon Lucas and a nephew, Brandon Lucas. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 4, 2005 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Kathy Wilson and Reverend Clayton Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday prior to the services at the funeral home.
