Susan Willis

Canton, Susan Matteson Willis, age 48, died Friday, April 10, 2009 at her residence. A native and livelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of Howard and Barbara Jean Sisk Matteson of Candler. She was a faithful member and Sunday School teacher at Rocky Face Baptist Church. Susan was employed with Haywood County Schools having worked in the cafeteria at Clyde Elementary and Pisgah High schools for 13 years. She enjoyed making baskets, and was active in Relay for Life. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband of 31 years, Michael Willis; two sons, Jason Willis and Matthew Willis both of Canton; one sister, Vivian Poppas, of Canton; two brothers, Dennie Matteson, of Canton and David Matteson, of Cruso and four grandchildren, Austin, Amber, Mikayla and Grey. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 12, 2009 at Rocky Face Baptist Church with the Reverend Donnie Henson and the Reverend James Hutchinson officiating. Burial will follow at Plains United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
