Susie Plemmons

Waynesville, Susie Arlene Chandler Plemmons, age 77, of Blink Bonny Drive, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2015 at CarePartners Solace Center. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Jefferson and Helen Hampton Chandler and was also preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters. Susie was employed at Haywood County Department of Social Services as Director of Income Maintenance for 38 years. After retirement, she worked at Holston Oil Company and later was employed as the Medical Secretary for ARC of Haywood County. She enjoyed dancing on Saturday nights at the Stomping Grounds with her husband, Doyle, and attended Panther Creek Baptist Church. Susie is survived by her husband of 57 years, Doyle Plemmons; two sons, Dayle Plemmons and his wife, Dao, of Decatur, Georgia and Hanley Plemmons and his wife, Tiffany, of Waynesville; a sister, Macey Massie of New Jersey; two brothers, Tom and Lowery Chandler, both of Waynesville; and her grandson, Hoyt Plemmons, who affectionately called her "Nene". Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Rocky Branch Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Ronald Greene officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to ARC of Haywood County, 407 Welch Street, Waynesville, NC 28786. Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services of Waynesville is in charge of arrangements.
