Suzie Griffin

"Caregiver & Mama to Many" Canton – Mary Elaine "Suzie" Pace Griffin (Nanny), age 73, passed away on May 2, 2016 at her home. Born in Butler County, Ohio, she was a lifelong resident of Canton and a daughter of the late Paul Oliver and Minerva Pless Hicks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Cecil Lewis Pace, who died in 1989; and an infant brother, Ronald Peter Hicks. She was an active member of West Canton Baptist Church for most of her life. Suzie's home was always open to others where she could be a mother to many. She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Frank R. "Tinker" Griffin; one daughter, Denise Cope and husband, Greg, of Mills River; three sons, David Pace and wife, Sherry, Cecil Darren "Dooker" Pace and wife, Phoebe, and Fred Derrick Pace and wife, Stephanie, all of Canton; one step-daughter, Audry Amber Propst of Waynesville; two step-sons, Kip Robert and Richard Scott Griffin, both of Waynesville; one sister, Paula Hicks McLeod of Martinez, Georgia; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 5. 2016 at West Canton Baptist Church with the Reverend Jonathan Blaylock, Mr. Greg Cope, and Reverend Jeff King officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Old Clyde Road. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Wells Funeral Home in Canton.
