Sylvia Finley

Hot Springs, NC-Sylvia I. Finley, age 81, of Bluff Mountain Road, died on Sunday, June 25, 2006 at Canton Christian Convalescent Center. A native of Madison County, she was the daughter of the late David and Gertie Roberts Brooks. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William H. Finley, who died in 1978; four sisters; and five brothers. She was a teacher for Head Start and a member of Zion Baptist Church in Bluff, NC and enjoyed reading and gardening. She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Finley Burns and husband, George, of Hot Springs and Lisa Finley Owens and husband, Jimmy, of Hendersonville; a son, Jeffrey Finley, of Hot Springs; three sisters, Jean Dunlap and Nina Lee Brooks, both of Greenville and Mary Sams of Hendersonville; three brothers, Lionel Brooks of Hot Springs, Rex Brooks of Tennessee, and Fred Brooks of Hendersonville; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, June 30, 2006 at Lynn First Baptist Church of Tryon with Reverend Jimmy Owens officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Friday prior to services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lynn First Baptist Church Missions, P.O.
