T. Powell

T. J. Powell, age 84, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at John F. Keever Solace Center. A native of Jackson County, he was a son of the late Hobert Hayes and Christine Edwards Powell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Garwood Powell, who died in 1985. T. J. was the owner and operator of Powell�s Exxon. He is survived by one son, Edward E. Powell and his wife, Denise, of Lake Mary, FL; a step-son, Donald E. Storer of Canton; three sisters, Marie Frady and Imo Jean Lyerly both of Canton, and Ernestine Crouch of Asheville; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 10, 2011 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Pastor Jake Cagle officiating. Burial will follow at Longs Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
