Cruso-Tallie O'Neil-90, of 228 Sharp Mountain Road, died Tuesday, February 4, 2003 at his residence.
He was a native of Jackson County, Alabama and lived most of his life in Haywood County. He was a son of the late Toss and Ollie Howell O'Neil. He is also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Laura Smathers, Tallie's twin sister, Allie Burress, 6 brothers, Jack, G. L., J. D., Harold, Allen and James O'Neil. He retired from Dayco in 1974 with 32 years of service. He was a member of East Fork Baptist Church. He cherished his family and had a passion for animals.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Susie Etta Hooper O'Neil, three sons, Dale O'Neil and his wife Jan, David O'Neil and his wife Theresa and Floyd O'Neil all of Canton, two sisters, Mary Garrison of Weaverville and Bertha Hooper of Cruso, one brother, Raymond O'Neil of Cruso, 6 grandchildren, Tracy, Kevin, Jarrett, and Bryan O'Neil, Nikki Barnwell and Tonya Finney, 7 great-grandchildren, Cody and Casey Barnwell, Dillon, Kassi, Andrew, and Crissy O'Neil and Colin Finney and several special nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 6, 2003 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes with Reverend Matt Pruett and Reverend Jimmy Trantham officiating. Burial will follow at New Cruso Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence. Serving as pallbearers will be Tracy, Kevin, Jarrett and Bryan O'Neil, Steven Finney and Dwight Trull. Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond O'Neil, Earl Williams, Bud Stines, Everette Cutshaw, Ora Burnette, Don Rogers, Dexter O'Neil, Roy Henson and Billy O'Neil.
