Tally Wilson Heatherly, age 76, died Friday, April 23, 2010, at Smoky Mountain Health Care Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late T. C. and Bertha O'Kelly Heatherly. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Henson Heatherly, who died in 2004; two brothers, Frank and Fred Heatherly; and a son-in-law, David Tatham. He was a member of East Fork Baptist Church. Tally's first love was his grandchildren. He also enjoyed working with his honey bees, tractor, fishing, and hunting. He had a great sense of humor and will be missed by all who knew him. He was a United States Army veteran. He is survived by a son, Randy Heatherly and his wife, Scarlette, of Waynesville; a daughter, Dianne Tatham of Canton; a step-brother, Wilburn Holland and his wife, Frances, of Canton; two step-sisters, Dorothy Heatherly and Martha Jean Whitt and her husband, Charles, of Akron, OH; and six grandchildren, Kyle Brookshire, Ashton Heatherly Pressley, Shane Wilson Heatherly, Brittany Heatherly, and Kayla and Kourtney Tatham. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 25, 2010, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home & Cremation Services with the Reverend Greg Cullen, Reverend Bobby Rogers, and Reverend Jim Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. Saturday at the funeral home.
