Tawanna Anne McCarson, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, left this world on December 27, 2024, in Newport, TN at the age of 61. Born on December 11, 1963, in Fort Chaffee, AR, Tawanna’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with kindness, love, and a profound dedication to helping others.
For over 15 years, Tawanna committed herself to her work with Above and Beyond cleaning services, tending to homes and hotels with meticulous care and an infectious smile. Her work was more than a job; it was an extension of her generous spirit. She had a remarkable ability to connect with people and often found joy in the simplest of tasks, deriving satisfaction from the happiness her work brought to others.
Tawanna was not only known for her professional dedication but also for her immense love for animals. An ardent animal lover, she cherished the companionship of horses and dogs, recognizing their pure and uncomplicated affection in a way that many could only aspire to emulate. She also loved birdwatching and feeding birds who came to visit her feeders. Her connection with these creatures was a testament to her nurturing personality and her desire to help all living beings, especially the elderly and children, who held a special place in her heart.
Her interests and hobbies were as vibrant as her personality. She delighted in birdwatching and embraced the beauty of nature in every form. Museums fascinated her, and she spent countless hours exploring them wherever her travels took her. Cherished memories of her journeys to Oklahoma, Texas, Myrtle Beach, and Tybee Island will forever linger in the hearts of those who knew her.
Tawanna is remembered dearly by her loving husband of ten years, Ira Bergman. She is survived by her mother and step-father, Carlene and Sonny Walls of Candler; her daughter, Ashley Anders (Brennan) of Greenville, TN; and her treasured granddaughters, Sophia and Addison Anders, who brought immeasurable joy to her life. Tawanna also leaves behind her brother, Jerry “Frank” Garrett (Paula) of Oklahoma City, OK, along with her great-great aunt, Lily Brooks of Tulsa, OK, and great-great uncle, Tom Dooley of Bowie, TX; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her two special friends, Toni and Renea, as well as her cherished dogs, Baby Girl and Milo.
Tawanna was preceded in death by her father, Robert Owen McCarson; and two brothers, John David McCarson, who passed in 2016, and Robert "Bobby" McCarson, who departed this life in 2024.
A visitation in honor of Tawanna will take place on January 2, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM at Wells Chapel of Faith, located in Candler, NC.
As we remember Tawanna, let us hold dear the legacy of love and warmth she shared with all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her spirit will continue to shine brightly in our hearts, and her memory will be a lasting reminder of the kindness that can change lives.
The care of Mrs. McCarson has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Candler.
