Taylor Ross

Waynesville, Taylor Mack Ross, age 83, of Farmland Road, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, October 31, 2014 at his home. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Roy Hobert, Sr. and Amanda Henson Ross. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Geneva Smart, Clara Swanger and Louise Worley and two brothers, Brown and Ben Ross. Taylor was a dairy farmer and was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church. Taylor lived and worked the land his entire life and enjoyed all of his animals. He was a loving and hardworking husband, father, poppy and granddaddy, whose greatest legacy was his family. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy McCracken Ross; two daughters, Judy Green and her husband, Kevin, of Waynesville and Cathy Parkins and her husband, Steve, of Clyde; two sons, Steven Ross and his wife, Elaine and Dan Ross and his wife, Ronda all of Waynesville; two sisters, Ruby Boyd and her husband, Joe, of Waynesville and Betty Buckner and her late husband, Lloyd of Etowah; two brothers, Roy Ross, Jr. and his wife, Anne and Ralph Ross and his wife, Barbara all of Waynesville; seven grandchildren, Phillip Ross and his girlfriend, Tabbitha, Mark Ross and his wife, Kayla, Bruce Green, Dr. Holly Parkins, Clinton Parkins and his girlfriend, Brianna, Miranda Ross and John Daniel Ross; one great-grandchild, Mackenna Ross, and two loving caregivers, Denise Hannah and Missy Mehaffey. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 3, 2014 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Tom Tout officiating. Burial will follow at Dawn Memory Gardens Cemetery off Highway 209 in Crabtree. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
