Terry Nyhagen

March 24, 1949 — November 25, 2016

Clyde, Terry Lynn Nyhagen died at the age of 67 in his home on Friday, November 25, 2016 after a battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Victoria Ruth Morrison; his son, Eric Nyhagen; sisters, Cherie Pooler, Judy (Eugene) Gravunder; brother, Allen (Linda) Nyhagen; brothers-in-laws, Bill (Laurie) Morrison and Dave (Ryan) Morrison; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Lorraine Nyhagen; his brother, Dale Nyhagen and his sister, Cynthia Bitney. Terry was born in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, on March 24, 1949. He graduated from New Auburn High School in New Auburn, Wisconsin in 1967. He then went on to study at DeVry Institute of Technology, Chicago, Illinois, with a degree in electronics. Honeywell hired him right after graduation and he retired from Honeywell after working 10 years. He later opened his own machine shop and taught electronics, welding, and blueprint reading at Mid State Technical College in Marshfield, Wisconsin. He and Vicki were married in 1996 and they resided in Two Harbors, Minnesota and later Brimson, Minnesota. Terry worked at Northshore Mining in Silver Bay, Minnesota, where he was a heavy machine operator for 10 years then he retired in 2007. He was currently living in Clyde, North Carolina. Terry was a licensed HAM radio operator. He enjoyed doing wood working, carving and making bird houses. He liked to read about WWII history, creating electronic and mechanical devices, and being a beekeeper. He was a member of the Haywood County Beekeepers Club and to the NC State Beekeepers Association. He enjoyed nature and animals, especially his dogs and cats. He had been sober in Alcoholics Anonymous carrying the message for 39 years. He was loved by many and will be sorely missed. A memorial service and reception will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2016 in the Wells Events & Reception Center, 33 Wells Events Way, Waynesville, North Carolina.
