Waynesville-Thelma Johnson Frizzell, age 88, of Mundy Field Road, died Thursday, January 22, 2004 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.
A native of Tennessee, she had lived most of her life in Haywood County. She was the daughter of the late John Henry and Mary Cole Johnson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Arthur W. Frizzell, who died in 1996; a brother, Erastus Johnson; two sisters, Nellie Duvall and Robbie Gaddis. She enjoyed quilting and reading and was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Nell Burnette and her husband, Donald, of Cocoa, Florida and Fran Burnette and her husband, David J. of Canton; three sons, Harold Frizzell and his wife, Sharon and Roy Frizzell and his wife, Mary Ann, both of Canton, and Ray Frizzell and his wife, Theresa, of Waynesville; six sisters, Emma, Athlene, Ruth, Marie, Gay, and Immogne; a brother, Lester Johnson; 17 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 25, 2004 with Reverend Perry Brindley and Reverend Heath Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Larry, Jason, and Kurt Frizzell, Jared Burrell, Jordan Baxley, David Burnette.
Memorials may be given to Mt. Zion Baptist Church Building Fund, 269 Dix Creek Road, Canton, NC 28716.
