Canton-Thelma Inman Pressley- age 82 formerly of 987 Max Thompson Road died Sunday, June 6, 2004 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County. She was a daughter of the late William John Henry and Julia Ann Parton Inman and the wife of the late Samuel Coburn Pressley, her husband of 65 years, who died in 1999. She attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church and was a devoted housewife who loved to cook. Mrs. Pressley started working later in life at Mars Manufacturing until her retirement. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Reverend Robert Inman and James A. Inman and two sisters, Eva Ammons and Alice Kynett. She is survived by three sisters, Julia Francis of Deer Park, WA, Edna McCarter of Lake Logan Road, Canton, and Ruth Cole of Valdese; two brothers, Cedric Inman of Hazelwood and Reverend Louis Inman of Taylorsville, NC and a number of nieces and nephews who loved her very much. Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 8, 2004 at 2:00 pm in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services with the Reverend Heath Davis and Reverend Jimmy Burress officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence of her sister, Edna McCarter, 1397 Lake Logan Road, Canton. Serving as pallbearers will be Daniel Wines, Jerry Burke, Gary Deaver, Doug Williams, Tony Cope and Neal Kuykendall.
