Thelma Thomas

Thelma Hooper Burnette Thomas, age 62, died Saturday, December 17, 2005 at Piedmont Medical Center. She was a native of Haywood County but resided in York, SC. She was the daughter of the late Zachary and Ruby Rickman Hooper. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas "Tommy" Fleetwood Burnette, who died in 1981. Mrs. Thomas was a homemaker and a member of Riverside Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 21 years, John Thomas; four daughters, Teresa Montgomery of Waynesville, Pamela Phillips of Rock Hill, SC, Donna Chambers of Asheville, and Sherry Burnette-Taylor of Jacksonville, FL; one son, Michael Montgomery of Chester, SC; one sister, Carol Ann Horsman of Clover, SC; two brothers, Sammy Hooper of Maggie Valley and Bobby Hooper of TN; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Mike Odom officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
