Theo Davis

Theo Dayton Davis, age 96, died Thursday, June 24, 2010 at her residence. A native of Haywood County, Mrs. Davis was the daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson Dayton and Juanita Bell Mason Dayton. She worked at American Enka and Carolina Cleaners. She was a member of West Canton Baptist Church where she worked with GAs for a number of years. She was an avid seamstress and loved to crochet making afghans and decorating dolls. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, William Thomas "Tom" Davis, who passed away in 1998; daughter, Shirley Davis; a grandson, Michael Wiggins; brothers, Russell, James, Charles, and Glenn Dayton; sister, Evelyn Mills, and baby sister, Beulah. Survivors include two daughters, Martha Jean Higgins and husband, Bill, of Mills River and Gail Wiggins and husband, Gerald, of Canton; two sons, William Gerald Davis and wife, Carol, of Ellijay, GA and Bennie Dale Davis and wife, Sue, of Canton; 12 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Billy Joe Dayton; and sister, Lucille Rogers. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 27, 2010 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend W.O. "Bill" Henson officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:15 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.
