Theresa Holland

Theresa Kane Holland went home to be with our heavenly father on Sunday, April 30, 2006. Theresa was born on Staten Island, New York, on November 10, 1927, to William J. and Gladys M. Kane, who preceded her in death. Theresa was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Rick V. Holland, Jr. of Canton; and four brothers, William, Edward, Daniel Kane of Staten Island, NY and John Kane of Denison, Texas. Theresa loved children and was a mother to many. She enjoyed crafts and doing manicures for others. Theresa is survived by five children; Rickie Jean Garner and husband, Charlie, of Canton, with whom Theresa made her home for the last 19 years, William Buddy Holland and wife, Lana, of Columbus, MS, Mary Alice Cody and husband, Mark, of Clyde, Angela Morrow and husband, Doug, of Swannanoa, and William Brent Holland and longtime companion, Toby Brooks, of Asheville; ten grandchildren, Brian Dennis Hill and Brian Charles Garner of Canton, Rickey William Holland and Tabitha Koeln of Columbus, MS, Kevin Morrow and Heather Morrow of Swannanoa, Scott Green of Myrtle Beach, SC, Yvette Green of Sylva, and Lenny Green of Columbia, SC; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Alice Boudreau, of Staten Island, NY; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gladys and Gwalleys Kane of Staten Island, NY, Annabelle Mann, Jack and Fannie Mason, Jim and Betty Holland of Canton, Bob and Mary Francis Holland of Tennessee, Helen Holland of Virginia, and Edith Lear of SC; many, many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews; her friend and longtime physician, Dr. Craig Linger, whom she loved dearly; many friends from Canton Senior Citizen Center; and three dear friends, Viola Williams, Carolyn Simerly, of Canton, and Ruth Rabb, of Waynesville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2006, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Locust Field Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday at Wells Funeral Home of Canton. Pallbearers will be Scott Green, Lenny Green, Rickey William Holland, Brian Charles Garner, Bobby Joe Holland, Jr., and Kevin Morrow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Theresa's name to the Francis Foundation for Animals, P. O. Box 308, Hazelwood, NC 28738-0308.
