Thomas Lee Banks

Thomas Lee Banks, 80, passed away on September 2, 2024 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina. Tom was born on August 24, 1944 to the late Robert and Mae Banks in Marietta, Georgia. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved sister, Sandra Banks Carlile and his dear cousin, Gereal Coffey Byrd.

Tom spent his youth and young adult life in Marietta, Georgia, graduating from Marietta High School, and then relocated to Tucker, Georgia, to raise his daughter. Anyone that was acquainted with Tom, affectionately known as Pawpaw, knew that he loved his dogs, Max and Ky (who preceded him in death), but his real pride and joy were his grandchildren. He traveled many miles, back and forth, from Tucker to Canton, North Carolina to watch his grandchildren in their sporting activities and to spend as much time with them as he could. His family was finally lucky enough to have him move to Canton, North Carolina to spend his later years in their care.

Tom is survived by his daughter, Tricia English (Warren); grandchildren, Kristen Singleton (Nathan), Zane Ponder, and Avery Ponder (Jayse Creson); great-grandchildren, Ensley, Oaklyn and Case Singleton; sisters, Brenda Folds (Leon), and Donna Banks; niece, Sherrie Carlile Bode (Burt); nephew, Gary Carlile (Regina), as well as numerous beloved family members and very close family friends, Lynn and Philip Gibbs.

While our hearts mourn his loss, we rejoice in the fact that his body and mind are whole and he is at peace.

Philippians 4:7 “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus”
