Thomas Ford

March 12, 1945 — June 16, 2010

Clyde, Thomas Riley Ford, age 65, died on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. He was born in Maryland, and resided in Sarasota, Florida before moving to Western North Carolina where he lived for the past 20 years. He was the son of the late Francis Carl and Myrtle Riley Ford and was a 1968 graduate of Auburn University, where he earned a degree in finance. He was a United States Army veteran serving with the 101st Airborne during the Vietnam Era. Tom was employed by Harrah's Casino and was previously employed as a manager with Clayton Homes. He loved nature, flowers, spending time outside, and football and was devoted to his family. Tom had a wonderful personality, enjoyed getting to know all kinds of people and all that knew him, loved him and will miss him dearly. He is survived by Judith "Judy" T. Johnson; two sons, John Ford and his wife, Diana, of Pratville, Alabama; Josh Ford and his wife Brenda of Atlanta, Georgia; one daughter, Leah Johnson of Clyde; and an uncle, Curtis Riley of St. Petersburg, Florida. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 20, 2010 at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. Military services will be held. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday night at Wells Funeral Homes and Cremations Services of Waynesville.
