Waynesville, Thomas Allen Hunter, age 73, of Grandview Circle, died on Thursday, July 10, 2008. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Herbert "Hub" and Clara Price Hunter. He was a US Navy veteran and member of the Seabees during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He was a truck driver for Shelton Transport for 28 years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of Green Valley Baptist Church. Thomas enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren and also enjoyed fishing and took great pride in his yard. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Delores Jean VanBuskirk Hunter; three daughters, Terry Greenarch, and her husband, Robert, of Waynesville, Cassandra Mazza and her husband, John, of Powhatan, VA, and Tammy Goodson and her husband, J.D., of the Bethel Community; two sisters, Mary Jane Barnett and her husband, Sam, and Nancy Sutton and her husband, Rick, all of Waynesville; one brother, William Hunter and his wife, Sara, of Panama City, FL; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three step grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, 2008 at Green Valley Baptist Church with Reverend Johnny Swanger officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Dillard, Jonathon Goodson, Derek Mazza, Bryan Barnett, Mike Hunter and Terry Frady. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. prior to services at the church. Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville will announce arrangements.
