Thomas Lewis

Thomas Darwin Lewis, age 77, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2014 at Charles George VA Medical Center. A native of Huntington, Texas, he was the son of the late Ira Dee and Jewel Baygent Lewis. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, J. L. Lewis and Doyle Woodrom and two sisters Jean Jeambert and Marjorie Gillikin. He was a retired United States Air Force veteran with 20 years of service. Darwin was a member of Beulah Baptist Church. Of all of the interests Darwin had in his life, everything was secondary to the love that he had for his family and his church. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Conner Lewis , two daughters, Pam Garrett and her husband, Wiley, of Asheville and Jodee Turner and her husband, Michael, of Parker, Colorado; four sons, Keith Lewis, Mark Lewis and his wife, Carolyn Sue, Steven Lewis and his wife, Renee, and Kevin Lewis and his wife, Ranae, all of Huntington, Texas; four sisters, Marcelene Williams of Shepherd, Texas, Rena Modisette and Barbara Woodrom of Huntington, Texas, and Brenda Williams of Caldwell, Texas; two brothers, Charles Lewis of Huntington, Texas and Burl Woodrom of Monterrey, Louisiana; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Beulah Baptist Church with the Reverend Barry Clark officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Interment will follow at a later date at Ivy Cemetery in Huntington, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Manna Food Bank at Beulah Baptist Church, 483 Sunset Circle, Canton, NC 28716.
