Franklin - Thomas Willis "Bill" Neal, age 95, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2017 in Franklin, NC.

Bill was born in Hiawassee, Georgia to the late Thomas Norris and Callie Kimsey Neal. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, of 73 years, Ruby McLemore Neal. He served in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II. Formerly of Canton, he and his wife moved to Franklin following his retirement from Champion International Corporation. Bill was a beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was an avid fisherman, gardener and craftsman. Bill loved to travel with his wife in their RV and he never met a stranger.

He is survived by his four children; Gary Neal of Waynesville, Marcia Davis of Asheville, Krista Haynes of Athens, Georgia, and Keith Neal of Franklin; two sisters, Nell Thompson and Alice Donaldson; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2018 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
