Thomas Robeson

August 18, 1982 — September 12, 2007

Crabtree-Thomas Ferguson Robeson, age 25, of the Crabtree community, died on September 12, 2007 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. A native of Reno, Nevada, he was a long time resident of Haywood County. He was the son of Mary Ann Robeson of Clyde and the late Edward John Robeson, IV. He operated a sawmill and was owner of Affordable Tree Service. Ferguson was a 2001 graduate of Tuscola High School where he was a member of the football team and earned the "Best Smile" superlative award his senior year. He had a very generous heart, and was known for his thoughtfulness. He was a former member of Rehoboth Baptist Church and knew the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. He also loved the outdoors, especially horseback riding, skiing, snowboarding, hiking and camping. Over the summer he traveled to Alaska and out West. He had a special love for the farm where he grew up. In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister, Kathrine Austin Robeson of Charlotte; a brother, Edward Huiet Robeson of the Fines Creek Community; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Robeson, III, of Rosman, NC; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Caleb Huiet Paul of Sullivan's Island, SC; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins, who loved him very much. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at New Covenant Church with Pastor Thomas H. Paul officiating and Pastors Jim Brackett, John Holmes, and Wallace Tinsley assisting. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 17, 2006 at Wells Funeral Homes and Cremation Services of Waynesville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ridge Haven Conference Center, 215 Ridge Haven Road, Brevard, NC 28712. Around the time of Ferguson's birth, this verse was on his mother's heart: Jeremiah 24:7 "I will give them a heart to know me, for I am the LORD, and they will be My people, and I will be their God, for they will return to Me with their whole heart."
