Thomas Stone

Waynesville, Thomas Rollan Stone, 66, a resident of the Francis Cove Community, passed away December 17 after a long illness. Mr. Stone, a graduate of Memphis State University, spent his career in journalism and local government before retiring with his wife, Lynn, to the Blue Ridge Mountains. Mr. Stone's many interests included books, music, sports, and travelling. Mr. Stone is survived by his beloved wife, Lynn Garrard Stone; his wonderful children – Cameron Stone Roberts (husband Bill) and Wilson Thomas Stone, both of Memphis, and Megan Lynn Stone of Asheville; and his precious granddaughter, Willa Beatrice Roberts of Memphis. He also is survived by his loving brother and sister-in-law, Gary Lee Stone and Patricia McDaniel Stone of Rock Hill, South Carolina; eight nieces and nephews, a grandniece; and his loved mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Garrard and Dr. Clifford Louis Garrard, both of Jackson, Tennessee. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, of which he was a member, with Father Larry LoMonaco officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. Flowers are appreciated and memorials may be made to Hope Lodge, 2008 Charlotte Avenue, Nashville, TN 37203.
