Canton - Thomas Clyde Watson, age 63 of the Beaverdam Community died Saturday, November 16, 2002 at Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem from complications following surgery due to liver cancer.
He was a native of and had resided in Haywood County for 38 years.
He was the son of Kate Henson Watson and the late George Neil Watson.
He retired from BASF in 2001 after 42 years of service in maintenance. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and he was a United States Army Veteran.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 38 years, Nancy Hall Watson; two sisters, Joan Watson Lunsford and her husband, Bruce of Asheville and Jean Watson Nelms and her husband, Charlie of Enka-Candler; three brothers, George "Babe" Watson and his wife, Ann, Claude Watson and his wife, Peggy and Robert Neil Watson all of Candler. He was a beloved uncle to 13 nieces and nephews, 15 great nieces and nephews and one great-great niece and a friend to all.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 19th in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverends Furman Wilson, Charles Sprinkle and Gene Worley officiating. Burial will follow at Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Nancy Watson, 52 Redbird Lane, Canton.
