Thomas Wilson

June 30, 1921 — October 5, 2004

Canton-Thomas Eugene "Skinner" Wilson- age 83 of 22 Miller Street died Tuesday, October 5, 2004 at Memorial Mission Hospital. He was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and was a son of the late Thomas J. Wilson and Hannah Hipps Reno. He retired from Champion International with 45 years of service in 1983 and was a member of Canton First United Methodist Church. Mr. Wilson was also a United States Navy veteran having served in WWII and Korea. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Margaret Gibson Wilson; 3 daughters, Teresa W. Parris and her husband Charles and Thomasine W. Queen all of Canton and Arlene W. Broyles of Tampa, Fl.; one son, Rodney D. Wilson and his wife Sharon of Arden; 6 grandchildren, Stacy Cagle, Leigh Lindsey, Jody Broyles, Josh Broyles, Tara Green and Amy Wilson; one great-grandchild, Taylor Cagle and several step-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 8, 2004 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services with the Reverend Alice Day officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home and at other times the family will be at the home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Canton First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 29 Newfound Street, Canton, NC 28716.
