Thomas "Tom" Hines, Jr.

Waynesville, Thomas Robert Hines, Jr., age 82, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at Mission Memorial Campus.

A native of Dade City, Florida, he was the son of the late Thomas Hines, Sr. and Etha Hines.  Tom attended Florida State University and was a citrus grower for many years.  He enjoyed golfing, especially with his great friends at Laurel Ridge Country Club.  He was gifted with playing multiple musical instruments and enjoyed listening to music.  Tom enjoyed being outdoors in the sunshine.

Tom is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carolyn Richter Hines; daughter, Tracey Tutela (Anthony Justice), of New Port Richey, Florida; son, Thomas Robert Hines, III (William E. Robinson), of Waynesville; brother Charlton Walter Hines (Luca Volpe), of Palm Springs, California; three grandchildren, Caitlin Bennett (Cameron), Anthony Tutela, Jr., and Thomas Robert Hines, IV (Sarah Whaley); two great-grandchildren, Cassi Bennett and Chelsea Bennett; and his special dog, Casey.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 13, 2022 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Becky Brown officiating.  Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10:30 until service time at the funeral home.  Serving as pallbearers will be Tom Robert Hines, IV, Thomas R. Hines, III, Anthony Justice, William E. Robinson, Cameron Bennett and Anthony Tutela, Jr.  Honorary pallbearers will be his golfing buddies.

The family will be hosting a reception at 1:00 p.m. following the service at Laurel Ridge Country Club.
