Thurlow R. Warren, age 87, of Warren Martin Road died Friday, November 12, 2004 at V. A. Medical Center in Oteen. He was a native of Haywood County and lived in Buncombe County most of his life. He was the son of the late Ulus C. and Effie Watts Warren. He was preceded in death by a brother, David Leslie Warren and a sister, Maybre Warren He retired from American Enka in 1980 with 40 years of service. He was a member of Candler Church of God. He served as church clerk for 50 years. He was a United States Army Veteran serving in North Africa and the European Theater with the 51st Signal Battalion. In addition to his wife of 54 years, Lorema Vaughan Warren of Candler, he is survived by 2 daughters, LaDatha W. Smith of Hendersonville and Norma W. Case of Asheville; a son, Marvin R. Warren and his wife, Katrina of Middleburg, FL; four sisters, Elizabeth W. Clark, Lillian W. Martin and Marcelene W. Jackson all of Candler and Olivia W. Stanberry of Birmingham, AL. as well as seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 16, 2004 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services with the Reverend James Rogers and Reverend Ron Towe officiating. Burial will follow at Piney Mountain United Methodist Church Cemetery in Candler. The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 9:00 p. m. Monday at the funeral home.
