Toby Brooks

Canton – Toby Tyler Brooks, age 42, passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at his residence. A native of Jackson County, he was a son of Wayne T. Brooks and Freida Jones Brooks. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; J. C. Jones, Ray Claude Brooks and Vergie Ellen Nations; great-grandparents, Thomas Brooks and Polly Ann Gunter and William Lee Nations and Margaret Ellen Jones and Willie Joe Davis and Martha Palestine (Pallie) Nations Toby had a dedicated work ethic and was employed as a SPD technician at the VA Medical Center in Oteen. Many interests brought joy to Toby's life, one of them was his love of crafts. He was extremely creative and talented with sewing and quilting. One of his other joys was traveling where he visited over forty different countries. Toby will be remembered for being a reserved yet very generous and giving individual. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his spouse, William Brent Holland of Canton; a brother, Brandt Brooks and his wife, Teresa; step-mother, Shirley Brooks, step- father, Rick Coggins; sister-in-law, Angela Tinkham and her husband, Mike; maternal grandmother, Lucy Jones; five nieces and nephews; two great-nieces and nephews and one on-the-way; as well as several beloved aunts, uncles and cousins A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 26, 2016 at the Basilica at St. Lawrence in Asheville with Father C.
