Tom Wiley Jimison, age 83, of 369 Wrightsville Road died Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at his residence. He was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and the son of the late Sam and Hassie Wright Jimison. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Frances Raper Jimison, a daughter, Linda Jimison Patton; three brothers, Sherrill Jimison, Garrett Jimison, and Thomas Jimison and a granddaughter, Sarah Venita Patton. He retired from Champion International with 40 years of service. He was a lifelong member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II where he served in the China Burma India Theatre. He is survived by a daughter, Kathy Jimison Cody and her husband, Mike, of Clyde; three sons, Mike Jimison and his wife, Darlene, of Kings Mountain, Don Jimison and his wife, Maila, of Canton and Dewayne Jimison of the home; a son-in-law, Jack Patton; a twin brother, Sam Jimison, and a brother, Claude Jimison; eight grandchildren, Jill Lambert and her husband, Chad, Bethany Gunter and her husband, Keith, Aaron Patton and his fiancé, Shannon Vaughn, Amy Patton, Mark Cody and his fiancé, Rebecca Harris, Christopher Cody, Joshua Jimison and Erika Jimison and a great-grandson, Noah Lambert. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 31, 2006 at Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Reverend Bruce Cayton officiating. Burial will follow at Old Thickety Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Wells Funeral Home of Canton where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Mike Cody, Jack Patton, Frank Ford, Harris Sorrells, Chad Lambert and Keith Gunter.
