Maggie Valley, Thomas Albert "Tommy" Caldwell, age 81, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at St. Joseph Hospital. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Cash and Cora Rich Caldwell and was also preceded in death by a sister, Rosemary Evans and a brother, Manzie Calwell. Tommy proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War and served in Germany. He was employed by the State of North Carolina at the ABC Store in Waynesville. Tommy owned and operated the Maggie Valley Trout Pond and enjoyed fishing and camping. Tommy is survived by a niece, Penny Caldwell; two nephews, Andy Caldwell and Randy Evans; and one sister-in-law, Linda Caldwell, all of Maggie Valley. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, January 9, 2016 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverends David Reeves and Erma Bond officiating. A reception will follow the service at the Wells Events and Reception Center. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2016 at Caldwell-Sutton cemetery on Utah Mountain Road. Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Carver, Ray Spires, Scott Clement, Donald "Duck" James, Andy Caldwell and Randy Evans. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Foohey, Jack Lewis, Jack Swanger and Thomas Sutton. Memorials may be made to Maggie Valley United Methodist Church Food Pantry or Shepherd's Table Fund, P.O.
