Tommy Swink

August 8, 1957 — September 20, 2005

Waynesville-Tommy Earl Swink, age 48, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2005 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of Pat Cody of Whitsett, NC and the late Robert Theodore Swink. He was employed by Wal-Mart as a Claims Manager for over 14 years. He attended Woodland Baptist Church in Clyde. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of more than 25 years, Nila Swink; a son, Adam Swink, of Waynesville; two sisters, Betty Reeves of Asheville and Mary Anderson of Black Mountain; one step-sister, Debbie Jones, of Asheville; one brother, Jimmy Swink, of Asheville; a step-brother, Steve Austin, of Fairview; maternal grandmother, Mary Cody, of Canton; mother and father-in-law, Joe and Wilma Smith, of Clyde; and a brother-in-law, Randy Smith and his wife, Rhonda of Waynesville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 23, 2005 at Woodland Baptist Church with Reverend Alan Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. Serving as pallbearers will be Tim Haney, Jim Smith, Jeff Biar, Phil Inman, Timmy Burnette, Bobby Joe Sutton, and Steven Smith. Memorials may be made to Woodland Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 127, Clyde, NC 28721.
