Travis Ryan Ferguson

Raleigh, Travis Ryan Ferguson, age 49, tragically passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 in Alleghany County, North Carolina.

A native of Western North Carolina, he was one of two sons of Yolanda Smith Ferguson and the late Roger Dale Ferguson.  He was a decorated U.S. Army veteran who first distinguished himself in Korea prior to joining the 82nd Airborne.  He was then selected as a Non-Commissioned Officer and served with the 3rd U.S. Infantry, The Old Guard, as a squad leader for a full honors casket team then promoted to the U.S. Army Drill Team.  His commitment to excellence left a lasting impression on all who served alongside him.

Travis was a Senior Lab Technician with FDH Infrastructure Services in Raleigh who was admired by colleagues as hardworking, knowledgeable, and generous.  He enjoyed being outdoors and had a plethora of action-packed hobbies including fishing, bow hunting, and riding his Harley.  Above all, he enjoyed spending time and making memories with his kids.  Travis lived life to the fullest and will be deeply missed by those who loved him.

Travis is survived by his adored twins, Natalie and Elijah Ferguson; his loving mother, Yolanda Ferguson; mother of his children, Kimberly Ferguson; brother, Dennis Ferguson (Laura Livingood); one niece and two nephews.

A graveside inurnment with military rites will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Upper Crabtree Community Cemetery, above Mt. Zion United Methodist Church 1949 Upper Crabtree Rd., Clyde, NC 28721.  A gathering of family and friends celebrating Travis’ life will be held after the service at the church.
