Troy Justice

Waynesville, Troy Lee Justice, age 95, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Mission Hospital. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Robert Andrew and Effie Rogers Justice. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jewel Messer Justice, who died in 2011; one brother, Reuben Justice; and three sisters, Glee McElroy, Lois Bryson, and Gladys Bradshaw. Troy was a US Navy veteran of World War II. He retired from Dayco Corporation in 1980 after 32 years of service. He was a very outgoing person, who had a great sense of humor. He loved spending time with his family and friends and also enjoyed fishing. He was an avid gardener until his later years and enjoyed sitting on his front porch drinking coffee and talking with his neighbors. Troy was a long-time member of Ratcliffe Cove Baptist Church, where he was ordained as a Deacon on September 19, 1960. Troy is survived by two daughters, Elaine Sneed and her husband, John, of Rock Hill, South Carolina and Janice Justice of Asheville, NC; a half-sister, Estalee Teague, of the Fines Creek Community; two grandchildren, Deanna Murray Border and her husband, Sid, of Asheville, NC and Jennifer Sneed Gavin and her husband, Ghi, of Charlotte, NC and two great-grandchildren, Eli and Logan Border, both of Asheville; and one step-grandchild, Kim Lambert and her husband, Doug, of Cherokee. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at Ratcliffe Cove Baptist Church with Reverend Jay Jones and Reverend Jimmy Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Fines Creek Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:30 p.m. on Saturday evening at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
