Troy Mann

Troy William "Bill" Mann, age 88, died on Wednesday, August 25, 2010, at Charles George VA Medical Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Reverend Marvin Mann and Eva Burnette Mann. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Griffin Mann, who died in 2005. He was also preceded in death by a son, Larry Mann; five brothers; and two sisters. He was of the Baptist faith. Bill had a passion for game roosters, driving, listening to bluegrass, and hanging out at the Pioneer restaurant. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He is survived by a son, Gary W. Mann of Bethel; a daughter, Diane Ford and her husband, Benny, of Clyde; three sisters, Winnie Mann, Frances Mann, and Annie Lee Freeman all of Bethel; four grandchildren, Candy Smith and her husband, Ricky, Tonya Rhinehart and her husband, Steve, Wayne Mann and his wife, Lawanda, and Dusty Ford and his wife, Jennifer; and nine great grandchildren, Michael Ford, Matthew Ford, Morgan Smith, Jonathan Mann, Chevy Smith, Dawson Smith, Chris Mann, McKinley Rhinehart, and River Ford. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 27, 2010, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Bruce Cayton officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Diane Ford. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 90 Stiles Road, Canton, NC 28716.
