Troy Moore

Troy Claude Moore, age 67, died Thursday, March 27, 2008, at Life Care Center of Banner Elk. He was the son of Ila Mae Buchanan Moore and the late Claude Casey Moore. Moore was preceded in death by a sister, Eula Loletta Moore, and a brother, Grove Ted Moore. He was employed at Champion International for 35 years and was a game warden in Avery County prior to working at Champion. He was a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church.. In addition to his mother, he is survived by one daughter, Jackie Sue Black and her husband, Terry, of Waynesville; one brother, Thomas David Moore and his wife, Jennifer, of Banner Elk; one niece; one nephew; two grandchildren, Jessica Allen and Ashley Purcelle and her husband, Thomas; and four great-grandchildren, Lucius, Michael, Rylee and Tyler. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 30, in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Jeremy Hyde and the Reverend Ricky Gibson officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Old Clyde Road. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Tyler Moore, Terry Black, Jason Higgins, Frank Hicks, Michael Hyde, Stanley King, Merlin Brooks and Thomas Purcelle. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Huntington's Disease Society of America, 158 West 29th St. 7th floor, New York, New York 10001-5300
