Ursula "Toolie" Welch Hyatt Canton – Ursula Welch Hyatt, age 89, of Pisgah Drive in the Bethel community, died Friday, March 14, 2007, at St. Joseph in Asheville. She was born on July 7, 1918, in Bethel, where she lived most of her life. She was the daughter of the late David V. and Annie Long Welch. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas B. Hyatt, who died in 1992; and two brothers, Sam and Frank Welch. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. She loved her family and friends, always helping to take care of them. She worked at American Enka for 25 years. She was a caregiver to her husband and mother. Surviving are a niece and caregiver, Anne Jenkins and her husband, Marvin, of Canton; one nephew, David Welch and his wife, Joyce, of Lilburn, GA; two great-nieces, Amy Davis and her husband, Joey; and Jorjan Jenkins, all of Canton; three great-nephews, Vance, Walter and Bill Welch, all of Lilburn, GA; two great-great-nieces, Felicia and Jourdan Davis; and two great-great-nephews, Logan and Justin Davis, all of Canton. To her family, she was best known by the name "Toolie." She was a wonderful cook, always trying new recipes, taking food to family and friends on special occasions or in the time of need. She was a very special person. All who knew her, loved her and thought the world of her. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at Wells Funeral Home of Canton. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Riverside Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend J. C. Grose officiating.
