Valerie Akins

Waynesville, Valerie Ann Akins, age 38, passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at her residence. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, she was a former resident of Florida and had resided in Haywood County for the past nine years. Valerie loved being with her children and enjoyed collecting roosters, scrapbooking, and watching movies. She also loved sunflowers and being at the beach. Valerie is survived by her mother and dad, Janet and Garry Laurain, of Maggie Valley and her father, Tom Lobaugh, of Port Clinton, Ohio; her children, Hailey Akins, Bryce Lobaugh, and Justin Essenwanger, all of Maggie Valley; two sisters, Pam Conser and her husband, Stephen, of Treasure Island, Florida and Alyson Lobaugh and Steve Wheeler, of Seminole, Florida; as well as four nephews, Kyle and Blake Conser, Blake Spinger, and Seth Crocket. Funeral services will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, April 30, 2012 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Tim McConnell officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 5:30 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home.
