Valerie Gale Pereski

Valerie Gale Pereski, 68, departed this life on January 29, 2025, unexpectedly. Valerie and her husband, William Cochrane were tragically taken in an automobile accident. 

Valerie enjoyed a fulfilling career as a geologist at Chevron, devoting 30 years to her profession. Her expertise and commitment to her field were evident in her contributions during her tenure.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Valerie had a vibrant passion for the outdoors. She cherished the simple pleasures of walking, hiking, and feeding birds. Her love for nature was complemented by her fondness for snorkeling and sheltie dogs. Valerie also took delight in shopping for unique items and, most of all, savored moments at her cherished cabin in the mountains, where she made uncountable memories.

Valerie was a proud member of the Arboretum, where her appreciation for the environment could flourish. She found joy in nurturing her surroundings and encouraging others to embrace the beauty of nature.

Valerie was the daughter of Faye Pereski and the late Melton Pereski. She is survived by her brothers, Mitch Pereski and Vince Pereski (Sheila); her niece, Grace Pereski McAlexander (David); her nephew, Ben Pereski (ArMiew); and her great niece, Hazel Gabriella Pereski. 

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Valerie's life and the enduring impact she made on those who knew her.
