Vaughty Allen

August 26, 1914 — September 29, 2005

Vaughty Mae Hughes Allen, age 91, went to be with the Lord peacefully on Thursday, September 29, 2005 following a brief illness at Haywood Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Yancey County and was the daughter of the late Reverend Jesse and Dollie Honeycutt Hughes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Sylvester Allen who died in 1968 and a daughter, Anna V. Allen. She was a member of Burnsville United Methodist Church and a big supporter of the VFW. Vaughty loved all animals, especially dogs. She was a very loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by her family very much. She is survived by two sons, Ron Allen and his wife, Barbara of Canton and J. D. Allen and his wife, Nancy of Swannanoa; nine grandchildren, Ronnie, Tommy, Michael, Steven and Jay Allen, Marla Brown, Maria Woodruff, Tina Holcombe and Lisa Wilson; nineteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 2, 2005 at the Canton chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services with the Reverend Jerry Ensley officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Flowers are appreciated or memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, P. O.
