Waynesville, Ve Etta Woodruff Webb, 91, formerly of Crymes Cove Road, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at the Homestead. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Glenn D. and Belva Hall Woodruff and was also preceded in death by two sisters, Faye Woodruff and Altha Mae Buchanan; three brothers, Charles, Ted and William Ray "Nick" Woodruff. Ve Etta was a long-time volunteer for lap reading at Junaluska Elementary School. She was a member of the Home Extension Club and the Gideons Auxiliary, and she loved working crossword puzzles. Ve Etta was a devout Christian and faithful member of Ratcliffe Cove Baptist Church where she taught Sunday-School and the Girls Auxiliary and was a member of the church choir. Her family related that she was the "World's Oldest Teenager" and was the life of the party. She also enjoyed all craft works. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Leon Elmer Webb; a daughter, Vickie Messer, of Waynesville; a son, Jerry Webb and his wife, Teresa, of Clyde; three grandchildren, Tiffany Messer, Shaun Messer and wife, Anna, and Kerry Webb; and one great-grandson, Emerson Messer. Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 10, 2017 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Darrell Webb and Reverend David Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home and at other times, the family will be at the home of the son, Jerry Webb, 88 Lakeview Street, Clyde. The family wishes to acknowledge the wonderful care given of the staff of Autumn Care Nursing Home. Memorials may be made to Gideons International-West Camp, P.O.
